Welcome to the village

Hi,

Welcome to the imaginary village. These days, one longs to be far from the Madding Crowd at the Washington DC and go live in a village where there are wild flowers, rabbits and squirrels, perhaps, a waterfall or a river nearby, and walk to the cafes without worrying about parking.

Well, I don’t intend to abandon a connected life but rather to watch the goings-on in Washington and the world from a distance. More than 4 decades ago, my high school teacher (a Fulbright scholar) published an essay about the global village. Today, with the maturing social media, I feel we have been living in such an environment in the last few years. In high school, my teacher recommended a book titled “Future Shock” by Alvin Toffler. I read it from cover to cover. I believe one of the benefits of the global village is the opportunity to connect with people and groups that we share some common interests with.
